Center for Systems Biology Dresden Shared research insitute between MPI-CBG, MPI-PKS and TUD. Located next door to MPI-CBG. |

DIGS-ILS |
Dresden International Graduate School for Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (Former DIGS-BB). The DIGS-ILS is our partner program at the TUD. We have many shared activities, including the PhD Student retreat, courses and recruitment. Applicants for PhD positions apply through the portal on the DIGS-ILS website. |

DIPP |
Dresden International PhD Program The DIPP is the umbrella term for the partnership between the DIGS-ILS and the IMPRS-CellDevoSys. |
| IMPRS | International Max Planck Research School. Structured PhD programs across the MPG. Currently, there are around 68 IMPRSes. |

IMPRS-CellDevoSys |
International Max Planck Research School for Cell, Developmental, and Systems Biology This structured PhD Program, and one of the originals in the MPG. |

MPG |
Max Planck Gesellschaft (Max Planck Society) Germany’s flagship, publically-funded, basic research insitution. 31 winners of the Nobel Prize have come from the Max Planck Society. |
| MPI | (A singular) Max Planck Insitute . There are currently 84 Max Planck Insitutes, mostly in Germany, but with a few abroad. |

MPI-CBG |
Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics All PhD students at MPI-CBG are members of this IMPRS. The building is located next door to the CSBD. |

MPI-PKS |
Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems. PhD Students from the Biophysics Division of the MPI-PKS are part of this IMPRS. Located in the south west of Dresden. |
| Predocs | PhD Students Across the MPG, PhD Students are usually called “Predocs” - short for “predoctoral researcher,” to acknowledge their burgeoning scientific independence, and to avoid charcterising them as “students.” |
| RGL | Research Group Leader. Elsewhere often called a PI, these are senior researchers who lead a lab to conduct independent scientific research under their overarching vision. |
| StudReps | PhD Student Representatives Elected voice of Predocs, StudReps sit on many committies and arrange events for the whole community. |
| TAC | Thesis Advisory Committee Core of the structured, but flexible, scientific training at this and (most) other IMPRSes. |

TUD |
Technische Universität Dresden Excellence University and University Partner of this IMPRS. |
